If you just want a straightforward loft ladder
solution, this is what you need and what fits
most situations. Assuming you have:

A standard height ceiling of 8ft: (An
average height man could just about
touch it standing on tiptoes) and

a rectangular wooden lid that you
push up into the loft to get in,
then you’ll need just a standard 2 section
ladder and drop-down hatch.
