We’re not able to offer a repair service for ladders we have not fitted. The only problems we have had with any of the thousands of ladders we have fitted since 2001, have been with customer’s own ladders that we have fitted for them. It’s for this reason that we no longer fit ladders bought by customers as they’re usually cheap tat from B&Q, Tesco direct or Argos. All our ladders are covered by our 5 year guarantee - we can afford to do this as they simply don’t go wrong. In our experience if a ladder needs repair it’s too old and uneconomic to be fixed - the parts won’t be available and they’re likely to be riveted in. In the case of old wooden ladders that have split, repairs are very difficult without weakening the structure so it’s not worth the risk.
Hatch not closing?
If we’ve installed a ladder for you and now you can’t close the hatch, you will have turned the catch too far, which is surprising as we carefully explained how to use it and the catch requires quite a bit of force to turn it too far. =sigh=
To fix,
undo the metal bolt until you can turn the plastic tongue back to where it should be and then tighten back up, but not too tight.
